Playing with half-square triangles

This week I have been playing with the leftover half-square triangles from the quilt-that-cannot-be-revealed-yet. There were quite a few, because I changed my mind a few times when making that quilt, and I used the remaining fabrics to make some more. Now I have enough to make a small baby quilt, but I can't decide what layout to use...

Oh well, there's no hurry!

This is the last week of the school term, and on Saturday we are off to Caloundra for a few days. Looking forward very much to that! We are staying in the same apartment building where I finished my Lone Star quilt last year - sadly I don't have an almost finished quilt to bring this year!

Gymnastics guards bag

In two weeks my youngest son Robert will have his first gymnastics competition of the year. He now competes in Level 4 and gets to use hand guards on high bar, so I made him a small bag to put these in. I made a similar bag for Hugo last year, using my Spoonflower gymnastics fabrics that I also used for Hugo's Big Cushion and for their gym bags

Yesterday Robert had a control test (mock comp) and he did really well. Go Robert!

More Lone Star table toppers

When my father-in-law and his wife visited us in March, they loved my Lone Star table topper, so I promised to make one for them. They chose the fabrics (Dutch Heritage fabrics from Motifs by Hand on Etsy), I ordered them and finished their table topper today. It is pieced and quilted in the ditch with a beige Aurifil 50wt thread (no. 2314). Aren't the colours gorgeous!

I have also made a Christmas table topper with fabrics from the Sparkle range, designed by Amanda Murphy:

This one is quilted in straight lines on each side of every seam with a white Aurifil 40wt thread (no. 2021). I really like the texture the quilting has created:

The table topper for my father-in-law and his wife is going on its way to the Netherlands tomorrow. I hope they will love it! The pattern for this Lone Star table topper is now available in my pattern store on Etsy.

Good news

Fly Away is going to the USA! It has been selected to be judged at the World Quilt Competition and will hang on display during the event from 18-20 August 2016 in Manchester, New Hampshire. After that it will tour the United States and be displayed at the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza in September; at QuiltFest Oasis Palm Springs and the Pacific International Quilt Festival in California in October; and at World Quilt Florida in January 2017. So exciting! Hugo wishes he could go with his quilt!

This is a block of a new project I am working on. More will be revealed soon!
